Opening event

With a raving party and several prominent guests, the new Sun Lifestyle Resort officially opened its gates on 20th December 2008 in Mellau in the Bregenzer forest.

The first guests were notably surprised at the four-star-plus hotel's modern Vorarlberg architecture with Bregenzer forest lifestyle and international expertise. When people speak of the new Sun, they really mean two buildings. The old hotel "zur Sonne" was entirely removed and newly erected in the Bregenzer forest style. The cosy inn's rooms, all carrying a scent of fresh wood, are home to the à la carte restaurant, where chef cook Jürgen Klocker conjures up the finest creations.

Next to it, attached by a hallway, is the new hotel. Large windows and natural materials - mostly wood, especially silver fir and oak - add a modern touch to the building, from the inside as well as from the outside. Warm tones such as sand, red and brown dominate the interiors and make for a harmonious and comforting atmosphere.

The new Sun offers 38 classy Superior Design rooms and 8 generous Penthouse Design suites; these all include a balcony with a view of the beautiful Bregenzer forest mountain landscapes, as well as open bathrooms, merely separated by a glass wall. Guests residing in the suites have exclusive access to the penthouse lounge, where you can browse the latest newspapers and magazines while enjoying an espresso.

Hotel guests are invited to have their breakfast and dinner inside the modern restaurant with its "market world" and a generous buffet. The piano bar & lounge, with live music, provides the perfect atmosphere for letting the evening wind down.

To round off a perfect day of skiing, why not pay a visit to our elegant spa and its indulging offers? A swimming pool leading out into the garden, while the great sauna area convinces thanks to its exclusive interiors. A competent team will tend to our guests' perfect looks in the beauty spa. You may choose between exquisite cosmetics, among them the Italian range of products "comfort zone", the brands Metzler Molke and Alpienne, who swear by high quality substances from the mountains, as well as Thali'sens, which uses elements from the sea. Nature programmes are organised by the team of our in-house Outdoor-Center.
